In Lebanon, Oregon there are a lot of veterans at the Veterans’ Home who would really like getting a letter from you. I know because I called and asked. The lady who answered the phone said that they are tired of staying in their rooms. They want to get out with their family friends. You could make this hard time a little bit easier on them by sending them a great big Koala Pete™ hug. Here’s how it works:

  1. Download and print the picture and letter.
  2. Color, cut, and fold the arms (write something like “Sending you a hug today.), add a picture of your face if you like.
  3. Date the letter and address it to “Dear Veteran.” Remember to sign your name at the bottom of the letter.
  4. Address envelope, stamp, and put it in the mailbox.

Visit the Koala Pete™ hug forum.

Address your envelope to:

Wouldn’t you like to encourage the vets in Oregon by doing your part sending a koala hug or even a video well wish? “Operation Well Wish,” is all about sending letters, postcards, pictures, artwork and now videos to our honored veterans.

The videos are being played for residents on the home’s closed-circuit TV channel throughout the day. You can see the messages here.

If you send a video message to the vets, address your email to ODVAInformation@odva.state.or.us.

Whether you send a Koala Pete™  hug or video, thank you for spreading your message of hope and kindness to the veterans at the Oregon Veterans’ Home.
